Would also be really annoying if they wore heat resistant gloves to throw back the hot tear gas canisters and if this got shared to all those protesting…

Would be a further shame if people started covering cameras (as seen in Hong Kong, with protestors using poles and rakes to lift cardboard boxes over security cameras), blinding drone optics with laser pointers, and flooding police-run reporting apps with junk data.

It would be a shame if the protesters noted that plainclothes cops can be identified a number of ways, such as wearing steel-toed boots; an armband or wristband of a particular color; driving white, black, or dark blue cars with concealed lights; or having the outline of cuffs visible in the back pocket or the bumps of an armor vest’s shoulder straps under their shirt.

It would be a shame if the protesters began making their signs out of inch-thick plywood to stop rubber bullets, forming a tight shield wall to prevent police from singling out and mobbing individual protesters. It would be a shame if the people behind the shield wall held up umbrellas so that tear gas canisters fired over the heads of the front line will be bounced away. It would be a shame if protesters began constructing improvised armor vests out of duct tape, hardback books, and ceramic tiles.

It would be a shame if protesters started wearing safety glasses, hard hats, respirators, and gardening gloves, all of which can be found at the same hardware stores as the plywood. It would be a shame if they started using traffic cones (the kind without the hole in the top) upside-down buckets, or other improvised lids to contain tear gas by placing them over the canisters.

It would be a shame if protesters learned that police scanners are legal to own in the US, allowing them to learn where police are moving and what routes they intend to take. It would be a shame if they discovered that these scanners can be used to send as well as receive, allowing them to flood the scanner frequencies with noise.

All this would be a terrible, terrible shame.

got this ask j after reblogging this,,,, sure would be a shame if protesters took advice from cosplayers

Today my psychiatrist appointment turned into a lecture about how I am going to get diabetes and a stroke. The doctor kept bringing up medications and then saying “no…that causes weight gain…”. I asked them not to factor that in because I don’t care if I gain weight, I just need my mind to be healthy. They tried to convince me that asking for weight unbiased medical care was me actually still being very self conscious about my weight even if I am saying that I am ok with it. I just had an extensive physical and am not in any way physically unhealthy, apparently that didn’t matter. They refused to give me any medication. My mental health issues have gone untreated for over a decade because this has happened over and over again. I just want to be happy.

This exact text should be taught in every medical school and in every psychiatry association. This is the kind of bullshit fat people have to deal with every fucking day of their lives. This is how people are denied the treatment that is (far too many times) life-or-death situations for them.

THE MEDICAL SYSTEM IS KILLING US.

Please try to ask in your local fat positive groups (if there is any)  for another psychiatrist. Because you deserve to get the treatment you need.

So much love and hugs for you dear

@fatphobiabusters being obese will cause you health issues and will kill you quicker, it’s not fine if you’re ok being fat because your heart and your insulin is NOT ok with being fat, so maybe try working out and trying to lose weight.

  1. A fat stranger’s health is none of your business, especially the health of a fat stranger who did not ask you for unsolicited health “advice”
  2. This fat person even stated they were recently checked and had no physical health problems, but that’s not enough for fatphobes like you
  3. The “professional” who told this fat person that they are at risk of X, Y, and Z was a psychiatrist. Psychiatrists are only trained on mental health. That psychiatrist did not know anything about this fat person’s health beyond their mind, let alone have any of this person’s physical health records. They did not have the expertise to lecture about physical health but did so anyway and then ignored and disbelieved everything their patient tried to explain about their own body
  4. The psychiatrist denied the person healthcare. They denied this fat person help for mental health. This person was unable to get treatment for their health problems because of fatphobia and explained that this had happened for years and years at the time this post was submitted to this blog. How in the hell can you pretend to care about health when you support fat people being denied necessary healthcare?
  5. You know what kills a person fast? Committing suicide due to untreated mental illness. And since this fat person had gone untreated for mental illness for so long, that risk of death due to mental health problems was far greater than any “potential” risk of death for physical health problems this fat person didn’t even have
  6. This blog has explained over and over again why weight loss doesn’t work and how weight is not a good indicator of health, but fatphobes like you don’t care
  7. You’re a radfem, a transphobe, and so much other crap. I don’t want to hear a thing about what fat people should do with their bodies from a radical feminist, especially on a post from 2018. Get off this blog and maybe start having actual compassion for other people

here's a list of fun things that the supreme court has decided in just the past week:

an important note is that all of these decisions were 6-3, with the more conservative justices overruling the more liberal ones. and if you need ANOTHER reason to care about the supreme court having checks & balances, two of the conservative justices (alito & thomas) have come under scrutiny these past few years for ethics violations, but the chief justice (aka the guy in charge, roberts) has failed to follow through on his promises to make an ethics code.

and i can assure you that they think they can get away with all of this because they know they can never be held accountable for their decisions—it's a lifetime appointment, and it's tricky to get impeached.

so tl;dr: voting is important. we might not vote for these guys, but we DO vote for who appoints them & who confirms their nomination. and the only way we can ever get our rights back is by appointing people to legislative offices so they can enshrine our rights in something a little stronger.

Absolutely fuckin wild that SCOTUS delivered a blow to LGBTQ inclusive nondiscrimination laws nationwide based on that case...because one web designer went to court to have the "right" to refuse to design wedding websites for same gender couples hypothetically.

Hypothetically, because no one even tried to hire her to do that. But this is the outcome.

I hope Lorie Smith never has a day of peace ever again.

...And they just stuck down the Biden administrations student loan forgiveness program.

Fuck SCOTUS.

today the supreme court has ruled that businesses are allowed to discriminate against the LGBTQ+ community, in addition to taking steps to dismantle affirmative action. absolutely sick to my stomach right now. generations of progress gone within a day. on the last day of pride month they had to get their last fucking laugh huh?

With the landmark ruling — which falls in line with many of the SCOTUS justices' conservative stances — a precedent has now been set that in certain instances, U.S. businesses can legally deny their services to LGBTQ+ people under the First Amendment.

A final fuck you to the LGBTQ community at the end of Pride Month, courtesy of the Supreme Court.

It's Funky Fresh Friday my fellow crackers,
